KeymasterGuys,
Just found this great site and hope some of you might be able to help. I have a Hoover HNF7148 washing machine that is causing me a little grief.
My wife reported the other day that the machine was making an electrical noise, as if it was sparking inside somewhere. This was followed by the electrics on the downstairs sockets tripping. After resetting the MCB I tried the machine and twice afterwards it tripped the electrics again.
The following day I retried the machine and found that it appeared to work with the exception that the drum did not turn during the cycle at any point. The machine did fill and drain. I also noticed that the door interlock seemed to be in the closed position and I couldn’t open the door.
I opened the machine up and found that there was a burnt track on the board at the point where a wiring connector connects at J10, I assume that this is the connector that connects the motor to the board, would I be correct? I released the door by a bit of push and shove.
The motor itself appears to be visually fine, although I’m not wholely sure what tests I can carry out with a multimeter. I’m aware that there could be problems; do you suggest I maybe borrow a Meger meter from work to test more indepth?
In my haste and thinking that the module and the interlock were to blame I bought replacements, part number 09200810 and 41016879. I fitted these (although the interlock was slightly smaller, I connected these in the same order!!!!) and turned on the machine. Immediately there was a slight pop and I noticed that the fuse in the plug had blown. There are no signs of visual damage to the new board so I’m hoping I might have been lucky. The door again would not open without a bit of push and shove, interestingly when I refitted the new interlock the door can be closed and opened with the handle! I’ve not done any more to date.
I have a good grasp of electrics, mainly auto electrics; I can use a multimeter but not quite up on the Meger. Any advice would be appreicated as I’d really like to try and remedy the fault myself.
Many thanks,
