This one has got to be rectified a.s.a.p. as my neck will be on the block. It’s MY tumble dryer!
Machine packed up heating but running about 3 weeks ago. I eventually found an open circuit stat in the front of the machine, behind the front panel. An exhaust stat I think. Ordered one and stuck it in, perfect. Yesterday kept stopping and lighting ‘clean filter’ although filter was not the problem. Checked for internal build up and vent but all clear and clean. I did notice the heater box was extremely hot. Took the cover off and the fan had slightly warped under the heat. So then I thought maybe both stats had failed, getting too hot and then cutting out. Can’t change the stats on their own so new heater complete. Just stuck a new one in and same problem. Seems to run to first reverse then cuts out.
As I’m typing this I can hear ‘call yourself an engineer’ coming from my kitchen…bless her.

Thanks but if it is the capacitor, why does the drum rotate[under load] at all?

    sounds like an airflow problem

no air across elements therfore element overheats and trips stats

    hope this helps
