ModeratorFairly new cold fill machine, given to customer by her son. Unfortunately no user manual. 😥 Are the option buttons on this machine selected when in or out, there is no indication on front of machine.
Complaint of completing cycle but not heating water.Element and all wiring looks fine, will this machine advance to end if heater is not working?
Apparantly, Hoover fitted new console panel under g/tee and her son says he is sure he saw a small flash when the engineer was refitting console but that he didn’t say or do anything about it.
Suspect possible module fault, any suggestions.?
Couldn’t look to closely at module, I am going to the Opticians for my annual contact lense checkup and have to wear them for a couple of hours before going, I normally only wear them for playing squash but my close up vision with them in is not great, ah the joys of growing old. 😥 🙂

Sounds like the Hoover chap was working “live” if there was a flash!!!!! When did Hoover fit the console? and was the fault there after this? As you know a “flash” will usually have done some damage. If I remember right the board has relay for the heater, have a look for the usuall dry joints.
Oh, its good to know there’s more than me with dodgy eyes, I have to use a magnifing glass to see these components on PCB’s. Should have listened to my mother, she said I would go blind!!!!

Sounds more like a dodgy customer to me . Not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain but I would find it most unlikely that machine would progress through it`s complete cycle if it wasn`t heating the water.
I would ask them to try a 90C wash , then they`ll know if it`s heating or not.

Thanks for replies guys, many of the Hotpoint machines will progress to the end even if the heater is faulty, all of the digital controlled WM range advance the timer into the rinse & spin cycle after a set period if no rise in temp is recorded, unless the customer has very dirty washing, most of them don’t even know the heater has failed.
I suspect that the heater may not have worked since the last repair but as this machine was given to her I cannot be sure.Heater is definately not working, there is no live feed to the element and in fact she has already tried it on a 90° wash. Any idea on the option buttons, in or out for selection?
Will return armed with my varifocals and get my nose up close to the module 😀
