Hoover HPB 145-80 Slow cycle issue

Hi all

I have a Hoover HPB 145-80
S/N. 31001186

I have had this Washing machine for quite a few years now and its been pretty reliable.
I replaced the brushes on the Motor 6 months ago thanks to the advice and parts from here. And its been fine since.
However recently though it seems to take ages to do its usual 29 min 40 degree wash.

Sometimes it takes over 2 hours and you think its stuck, then as you walk past it, the drum turns, then stops.
When it runs it runs flawlessly, no noises or grinding. Its just slowed down.

So, once again I ask the experts,
what parts do I need?
Is the part available?
Is it worth doing?
Or should I be looking for a new machine.

Most likely reason is that it is’nt heating the water. Check the heater.

Ok just stuck my meter on the heater terminals.
On my low ohm setting of 200, I get a reading of around 300 from the terminals.
Whatever that means.

As a follow up

I have replaced the Heating Element and Temperature sensor. (worth the gamble for less that £30)
It appears to have made no difference.

So, what is the next thing to look at before I think “chuck it and get another”

I was reading the article on “Washing Machine spin out of balance protection” and wondering if that could be a possibility, it does sometimes sound like the Good lady may have put a brick in the wash, even though its not overloaded.
Could a dampener be the issue?

There is 2 possible causes is the pump emptying the water out ok if so we can rule that out. The other thing is the selector switch which selects the programme can be faulty 22 position v selector they do go faulty a lot kai

Having said that it pumps out water ok,
I opened up the Pump Trap, and a load of water came out?
So maybe not?

The Pump needed, if it is the pump. Would be this one according to the store

Just wondered if there is a cheaper compatible part, in case its not the pump.

It’s never a good thing to throw parts at the machine. That can get costly and not solve the underlying problem anyway.

Now before you fit a new pump, check the pump impeller to see if it has any lateral movement indicating its bearings are worn. Check the drain outlet hose especially if it couples with the sink drain. Check the main sump hose especially the ball valve in it. A process of test and eliminate before fitting new parts the best way forward,

I appreciate your advice.
But seeing as the machine was 7 years plus old.
I decided to buy new.

I agree that throwing parts at a machine isn’t a great idea. but I figured it was worth a £30 gamble.
Didn’t pay off this time and. next time I will check all the areas you have suggested.

Bought a second hand Beko to get me by for the next year or so.
