Machine sometimes overheats and ruins garments. Customer seems to think it’s doing a different wash to the one selected. Indexing of the knob is OK as the off position remains in the right place. Also the 30 minute led light does not work so when washing the 60 minute one goes out and no lights show until the 15 minute one comes on. Could the overheating fault be related to the light problem? I read somewhere that these modules could be re-programmed but I can’t find it now 😕 For now I have suggested she tries doing a “drain” cycle between washes. The idea of this is that it might not be re-setting to the required programme but repeating the previous one which may have been a higher temperature wash. She says she always sets the dial to off between programmes. I don’t know if this is necessary on the Hoover machines. On my Hotpoint WF540 I tend to just leave it on “F” and rarely touch the dial.

Because to 30 min LED doesn’t light up suggests to me that oxidisation has occurred between the connector blocks of the display and module? And possibly a fiddle with the plug in connectors will cure that I guess?

You mentioned overheating but never mentioned the state of the NTC? Are you getting the right readings from that gizmo I wonder? NTC’s on these fail regularly. 😉

Thanks for the reply, Martin. If the NTC had failed would the machine still work correctly sometimes? Do they go open circuit or just stay at a fixed resistance of a few K? I will order a new one anyway.

Well open circuit mostly I believe? Worth changing it anyway I reckon. 😉
