    Hi Guys
We have a Hoover New Wave 1100 Washer Model AC170 Serial No AC17030500445 year of purchase 1993. It’s been working quite well apart from the odd leak here and there but now the drum motor doesn’t work. The machine runs through cycles, filling and emptying but at no point does the drum rotate. The belt’s OK, the motor doesn’t run. I had motor off and checked brushes, they are in good condition, move freely and springs are OK, no burnt out smells anywhere. Don’t know how to bench test the motor so put it back – still won’t run. Checked pressure switch and although I don’t know exact operation, the contacts open and close if I blow in to the tube connection point. Can anyone give me advice on where to look next and what might be the cause of this problem? Your help would be appreciated.

check the wiring loom to motor, sometimes the lower concrete weight wears though the wires. with the plug out of course.

plus the switch on the front pressing of the drum.. sometimes the wire breaks there as well

there where 2 variants of this machine, on was run just off a board, one was run off a board with a slave unit

the easy way to tell, is if you open the door, do you get a . or 3 bars?

dont be surprised if the slave unit is faulty if its the latter

oh halcien days.. fitted rakes of them when they were in production.. dont see any these days

most likely a dry joint on the pcb.
