Hoover New Wave Belt keeps falling off

Hi – the belt on our Hoover New Wave 1300 keeps falling off. My OH can put it back on again but he doesn’t know why it is happening. The machine must be almost 20 years old. Do I get a new belt, get someone out to look at it or just buy a new washing machine given it’s age? Any help appreciated thanks.

Is the drum nice and quiet when you spin it by hand with the belt off?

If it is then get a new belt, the old one has stretched.

If the drum is noisy when you spin it then its likely that the main bearings have gone, possibly not worth repairing at this age.
