ParticipantHi everyone, first post here. My old Hoover finally gave up the ghost on me tuesday. The repair man came today to look at it, and decided the heater was causing the fuse to blow. After closer inspection, the door seal and other parts were causing a leak that was causing the heater to blow. End result: Bye Bye Hoover. A quick search on ebay turned up a local man that seems to deal in washing machines. A phone call and he was on his way with a Hoover new wave plus 5 auto-washer, model A2132. Delivered, took the old one, and was on his way for £40. I hope that was a decent deal..
Ok.. after all that here is my problem. There is no manual with it, as it is probably about 10 yrs old. How do you know what cycle your putting it on? There is a knob for cycle selection, but all it gives you is a number, it doesnt tell you anything else. There are button for prewash, economy, spin delay, extra rinse, start, cancel, and delay start. I kinda know what all these do. Is there anyone that can just give me a rundown of the cycles so i can atleast do some laundry?
Also, I kinda guessed that my neighbors hoover normal wash is 4, so ive tried 4 on this one.. and it gets all the way to the spin or rinse, I cant tell which, and stops. the display says -3, and the start button is flashing. If I press start button, the display says -2, and starts working again.. spinning/rinsing (it all looks the same to me). Is this like a soak or something? If so can i turn it of? maybe 4 isnt the normal cycle and it has some delay in it.. Im totally lost.
Thanks for any help!

ParticipantHi Martin, thanks for the quick reply. However ive already ordered a manual from the service.. by snail mail if you can believe it. and they already told me on the phone, my£2 cheque has to clear before they send it!
i was hoping someone with one might just post me some quick basics for it so i dont have to wait a week for clean pants!May 12, 2006 at 12:07 pm #176233Martin

Dread the thought! Well all I can suggest is you follow the washing guide on the front panel for now. As far as I recall Prog No 5 is the perfect choice for underpants!!! 😉
Also, make sure the ‘Rinse Hold’ button isn’t selected otherwise it will stop full of water at the end of the final rinse (pressing the button again will advance it to drain and spin by the way)

Participantthanks again martin. i also think the 5 is the ticket for my smalls.. the suggestion about following the front would be great if it said anything.. its completely blank! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hoover-New-Wave-P … dZViewItem

Switch on (botton on right), then turn the large knob slowly until 5 is displayed in the window then hit the start button 😀

The numbers with a minus sign are displayed when the machine is counting down through the various sequences, sometimes you have to wait until the timer on the module moves to the next sequence.
For instance -2 means it is going into spin cycle ( which I think is programme 9 or 10)
-3 means it is on or counting down to rinse number 4.Programmes.
1. Whites
2. Fast coloureds
3. W/Nylons ( don’t ask me what the ‘W’ stands for., White nylons.??
4. Min Iron
5. Non fast coloureds
6. Delicates
7. Woollens
8. Cool wash
9. Slow spin
10. Fast spin
11. Quick wash
12. Conditoned rinseMay 12, 2006 at 4:56 pm #176238Dave_Conway

Sorry, I didn’t read your first post fully and assumed that you had no idea how to set a programme.
Sarcasm is not the way to get help though 😉

Sticking the odd smiley in here and there can often help to give more meaning, and help to convey your thoughts in the way you intended. 😉 🙂
