KeymasterHi all, wondering if any of you can help me.
I have just got a VERY ‘well used’ new wave dryer from the freeads as ours gave up the ghost having to dry nappies every day! 🙁
We are really skint so had to go for a knackered one! it works (ish-air is cold) but all the print has rubbed off so we don’t know what all the buttons are for! we worked out on/off but thats it 😀
anyone have any ideas what the others do?
thanks

ParticipantLook round the back of the dryer, near floor level and there should be a label with the numbers on “D—” for instance. Some of the later ones put the numbers around the door opening.
If you can find that, I’m sure Martin will be able to help you out in the morning. He is, after all, a little older than most of us on the site. 😆
Regards,

How many buttons are there Morgan ?
Do they go left to right or top to bottom ?
All these details will help Martin
to identify 😆

Sorry missed part 2….. The buttons are on the left, going left to right.
There is a blank, but it has a light above it then there is 3 buttons (the middle one has a green line above it) then another blank. Then there is the dial, on/off button and then door open. Its just the 3 in the middle we can’t work out at all 🙁 We hope one will make the air hot?!?
We have played around but still can’t work them out!
Thanks for all your help so far 😀

OK, in all seriousness, I actually think you’ve been sold a duff appliance I’m afraid 😥
Mind you they take quite a while to heat up these dryers.
Have you got an electric meter you can see with the revolving disk in it ? If you have, set the dryer running and ask your partner to watch the disk as you change the settings, it will speed up considerably when it’s heating 😀
If there’s no change then there’s a problem with the dryer.

Yup, better be serious for a mo. This dryer is fitted with the infamous PCT thermostat device, which is supposed to be a resetting safety device on the heater plate. After a while, it doesn’t. It’s p/no 09079112, about £7 plus the VAT. The other regular failure was the heater spirals, p/no 09079096, about £13 plus vat. The machines vibration did them in, in the end.
A fair amount of disassembly is involved to check either of these – if you’re not confident, get help. Check Repairs@ or the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your area – as parts for these machine are cheap you may be pleasantly surprised!
If you are going to investigate yourself, pull the plug first :plug: .
