ParticipantHI, I have a hoover nextra HNC170 that has suddenly stopped heating up, as in it is blowing just cold air. The clear filter light keeps lighting up, although I have cleaned the filter basketty thing inside the machine, and the long metal box type one that slots in the bottom.
There doesnt seem to be any water collecting in the water collection thing, but maybe thats because its not getting hot??
Please (with sugar on) please can anyone gude me to whats wrong, and hopefully help me (for that read hubby 🙂 ) to fix it ourselves or as cheaply as possible
(4 kids means I NEED the dryer and wouldnt you know it packed up halfway into the school uniform drying cycle)
Hope someone will be able to help…any help will be greatly appreciated.thanks a lot

Almost certainly safety thermostat failure. On Hoover dryers they are integral with the heating element, so replacement as a unit is normally required.
How old is this appliance? I am unable to find a part reference as to what is required, so it can’t be very old. If under 12 months, you should contact Hoover for an under guarantee repair; if it’s passed the guarantee period, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should be able to supply a new heater assembly at a reasonable cost.
Power off if you are investigating this yourself.

Penguin45.Thanks very much for your quick reply, penguin :), its around 18 months old, so out of guarantee (of course!! LOL!)
do you think hubby will be able to fix this himself?, or do you think it will need a qualified person to replace it?February 5, 2007 at 7:52 pm #203247Penguin45

If Hubby knows how to use a test meter he should be able to confirm the diagnosis with some circuit testing. If he doesn’t, it might be best to use the link below for an engineer inn your area.
