Hoover OPHS712DF-80 Display setting flicks around

My problem is when I try to select a programme using the selector knob, the display flicks around to different settings until I hit the go button hopefully catching the selection I want. Question is, to solve this do I need a new PCB? After google search I watched a youtube video showing same (almost) Hoover model which suggested changing the PCB for a similar problem

from what you are describing the programme selector unit is faulty. on a lot of early unit this part was separate but now its part of the timer board.

This fault can also be down to the heating element

A liberal squirt of switch cleaner in the selector normally sorts it out…

Power off, machine unplugged of course.
