Hoover Optima 716df Smoking

I Have a Hoover Optima 716df.

which is smoking from the drum and the detergent filler at the end of cycle.
the drum seems to rotate freely.
when I run my hand inside the drum there are little flakes of rubber and the washing smelt like burn rubber after it had finished.

I have now taken the seal off and can see that the drum has been rubbing on it. the machine is 5 years old could it be a case of a new seal???
or something worse?

More likely to be a new machine, does the drum appear to run a little off centre? Very strong possibility the drum support has fractured. 🙁
