My 12 month old Hoover Optima Range 5 8kg 1400 A plus AA washing machine works fine on any function,then midway through the cycle the function is stopped and the little orange light next to the cold wash button starts to flash three times then stops, then after a while it flashes again and so on.The function is not completed and you have to start again only for the same thing to happen.

Error 3 is a drain fault – specifically that the machine is taking longer than the allowed 4mins 30secs to drain the water..
You need to check the filter, pump, drain hose and sump to ensure they’re all clear and working correctly.
If everything is draining correctly then unplug the machine and check the heater element with a megger if you have access to one, if the insulation fails this will also give E03 – or give Hoover a call if it’s still in warranty.
