    I have a Hoover Optima OPH714D/1-80, serial number 3100250509071602, type FCE2

For a few weeks I have had problems selecting programs with the rotary dial, it’s more like cracking a safe then selecting a wash! The machine is now stuck on a 30min wash every time the machine is turned on. The timer does not count down and the water continues to enter the drum but it does not fill up. I followed a thread on this site removing the front of the machine and spraying the rear of the dial with electrical contact cleaner but it did not make any difference. I tried removing the plug and leaving the machine for 24hours to try and reset the software. Nothing seems to work. Can anyone give me some advice please.

You need to use a thin plastic ‘straw’ , they usually come with spray cans etc. This needs to be poked into the back of the rotary switch before spraying. Turn the switch vigorously then leave for 10 minutes before trying again. If it still won’t clear then you will need a new pcb. A lot of this stuff is now made in China so is not the best quality TBH.
