More help please…
I have the same problem, same machine, 18m old,
runs fine, gets to drain, E03, (although it is empty), then E16.
I’ve changed the element as suggested, cleaned the pump, hoses etc (no blockage found) no difference.
How does this machine detect water in the drum? is there a sensor/ pressure switch somewhere – if so where?!?!
(I can’t find anything that looks like a pressure switch – where should I be looking??)Is the sensor at the back of the drum above the element just a thermostat, even though there’s a connection on the element that is marked thermostat?
It does seem like a water sensor fault rather than anything else but I can’t see how it determines the water level?
Help please !!!

Item 153 on the attached.
There are several versions of this machine, seven actually, sold in the UK and one in Europe so I’d need the correct and full model number, possibly the production code both from the rating plate and nowhere else, to look at parts for you.

Found the pressure switch, removed it, dismantled it,replaced it… no difference..
the diaphram is good, contacts clean, the pipework is clear – it seems to operate ok. so I guess its not the pressure switch then?
Am I right thinking all thats left is the circuit board?
– or is it worth trying a new pressure switch anyway?Current symptoms are that it runs fine until it goes to drain. then it drains, stops a moment and begins to drain again, but there’s nothing there so get E03. (don’t get E16 anymore)
If you leave it overnight it will often work perfectly next morning for 1 run only, then it gives up…
before it goes to the tip should I try anything else???

Have you cleaned out the pressure pipe and into where it connects to the drum?

Yes – all clean,no sign of blockage…

Hummm sounds like either a PCB fault or pressure switch,if I was a betting man I would say PCB but pressure switch is the cheapest option to try first even though it is very rare that modern ones fail hth DJ

Ok, will order one.
interestingly, it will now run a complete (but empty) rinse cycle with no problems, the minute you put on wash cycle
problems start. have tried various detergents (thinking about foaming) – doesn’t seem to have an effect..June 13, 2011 at 12:08 pm #306629Martin

Hi Martin,
The pump seems to be the only part that does work,
why do suspect it?
– there’s never any water left, just that the machine thinks there is?June 15, 2011 at 11:43 am #306631itsbroke

For anyone who wants to know the final outcome..
Long story short – chance meeting with someone “who knows these machines” guaranteed me the element was at fault. He told me that the elements are quite delicate and that sending them through the post without good packing can wreck them (I bought mine online (not this site) – it arrived in a plastic bag without packing)
He said my replacement element was faulty.
so I tried another one.
The machine now works perfectly…
