If it was the bearings I would have expected the drum to be very noisy at the end. if it was not then it could possibly an article of clothing has found its way between the 2 drums and if you can get it out it may survive

Thank you both or your help , it had been noisy for some time ,when I say that it needs a lot of effort to move the drum I mean you really have to put a lot of effort on the pulley at the back to get any kind of movement at all ,there doesn’t seem to be any room for washing to get in there there is hardly any space between drum lip and seal

well even though it could be repaired by the time you have bought a drum and had it fitted you could get a new machine with a 12 month guarantee

Thanks , took the door seal off and looked for trapped clothes ,couldn’t see anything.ran it on a spin cycle and noticed it was smoking but the front of the drum only was very hot
