ParticipantIve sold hundreds of the optima range, models such as OPH614, OPH714 etc.
Ive recently had 5 or 6 customers complaining they can’t select the spin cycle on its own. I know the programme selector can play up on these but in my experience that will effect other selections as well.
The complaints have been isolated to the spin cycle only.Does anyone know if this is a software problem or if the selector is the cause.
Thanks.

Well using the OPH614 as a typical example, of the ‘special programmes’ SPIN ONLY is one of them. And defaults at the maximum spin speed which can be reduced by pressing the spin speed button. That fact you are probably well aware of so far.
The problem comes when someone wants to spin, say for example, a bathmat, dog bed, bath towel or whatever that has been handwashed and thrown inside. They select spin only and the darn thing won’t ramp into spin no matter what. The only solution to that is adding a few wet towels into the drum to balance it out for it then to work. Hoover/Candy are almost on par with Beko for their over sensitive built in OOB fuzzy logic sensing software. Something you have to be aware of and advise accordingly.
They buy crap, they get crap…fair exchange, no robbery. 😈

All cases were nothing to do with being out of balance, all cases when a spin was selected the machine would start a wash cycle.
Again all other selections are perfect. (Selector issues Ive had before have been iffy on other programmes.)They buy crap, they get crap…fair exchange, no robbery.
A bit harsh Martin. To date, touch wood, Ive found the Optima range a good buy. Still waiting to see how the sealed drums hold out but still early days. Ive never understood why the majority of people on this site are so negative towards Hoover.
Thanks though for your explanation on OOB. 😉March 19, 2011 at 9:47 pm #347474suedehead1

its normally the selector thats faulty,
on the other programs it is not obvious that it hasnt correctly selected the program as it will do a different wash program, however if you just select spin it is obvious if it fills with water then it has selected a different program.March 22, 2011 at 9:10 pm #347475loopey
