Hoover PE235? Strange pump noise when off

Had a customer leave a message on my answering machine , she says her Hoover PE235 makes a strange noise, even after its finished..
She says it as if the pump is starting & stopping intermittently even when the programme is finished & all lights are off.
Any deas anyone?

Dodgy p/sw – flood protection is live as long as the machine is plugged in.

Thanks penquin, do you know are there 2 pressure switches? Just see two listed on mediator on connections, maybe its after a date code a diffeent type is used.
