My Hoover washing machine seems to overheat. My tenant told me that steam came out of the door and it smelt very hot.
I removed the thermostat but I want to test it before buying a new one.
The resistance is around 20,000 ohms at room temp and drops to around 9000 when in very hot water. Is this correct? I’ve read that it should be very low at room temp and rise when hot.

Readings vary from 19.5kohm @25c to 1.7kohm @95c so your readings seem close enough.
