Hoover Performa Plus 146 Programmae/Temperature Selector Que

Totally confused. This is a potentially stupid question but we have the above machine and there are two dials on the control panel…1 dial has your usual programme selections 90 Cottons /60 Colourfast etc and the other dial is labelled Temperature Selector (see photo attached for description of dial function from manual)

Can someone clarify that if I select the snowflake symbol then select 40 non-fast programme will the machine wash at water inlet temperature or will it wash at 40 degrees as per programme selected??
For instance this morning I am running the 90 cottons cycle to clean the machine but the temperature selector is at he snowflake symbol so does hat mean that it’s running at the inlet temperature or 90 degrees as I want it to!?

Left set on the snowflake symbol and it will just wash with cold water (inlet water temperature) irrespective of what programme selection you make.

Cheers for the reply. Seems that I’ve had this on the snowflake symbol for ages and it’s had no effect on the washing. Seems like an unnecessary function as cold water inlet will never be above say 10 degrees??
