Hoover Performa+ PPA146-80 door not closing after handle fix

Replaced a cracked door handle on my Hoover Performa Plus PPA146-80 but the door isn’t catching in the slot. There is a wee bit of wear from the spring mechanism (circled in red in the photographs for details). I replaced all the door handle assembly parts parts with new OEM replacements. Even after trying to fit the new parts I re-fitted the old one to just check and now that won’t work – it just doesnt seem to catch in the slot.

Any ideas on what I have done wrong or is wrong?

well in the bottom picture the hook is the wrong way round

Well that is pretty embarassing!! 😳 😳

Have you got a picture of the correct assembly so I can look at it tonight – naturally I forgot to take a picture when I was disassembling it last night. I assume the hook points away from the glass and spring touches the back face of the hook if you know what I mean?

yes exactly the same but reverse the hook

Thanks again Dave…just home and had some lasagne and fixed it in 10 minutes…if I saw in the pub I’d buy you a couple of pints!
