Hoover preforma plus PPC160S

Hi there,

I bought a Hoover condenser dryer 2 years ago and for the last few weeks it has been making a fishy/burny smell. It was only really when I put towels in to dry though. Then lastnight I went to put it on and after 5 minutes it cut out and the red light cut out. I tried to put it on again and it made a noise like it wanted to start but then cut out.
Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what repair it needs?

It rather sounds like the motor has burnt out? 😯

If you now hear just a low frequency ‘humming’ noise, that confirms it I’m afraid. 😥

Hi there

Thanks for replying. It doesn’t make any noise now as it won’t come on.
Do you still think this is a new motor it needs? Can you buy new motors?

You certainly can, is your machine not covered by a 5 year parts guarantee though? Shouldn’t you check direct with Hoover first?
