ParticipantThis has been an intermittent fault in the past, we always put it down to the pressure of our hot water or that we don’t usually keep the boiler on, so there isn’t always a lot of hot water kicking about, before if that error came up we would restart the wash and it would be fine.
But just the other day the machine stopped washing altogether. It now sets the parameters then waits for about 2 minutes then comes up with Error Number 2.
The rinse cycles work OK, which I think is cold water, so I don’t think there is a blockage, unless its in the hot pipe, but I don’t hear any water at all after the parameters have been set, which we use to.
Can anyone shed some light on what might be wrong?

error 2 is a filling problem i doesnt matter if your hot water is hot or not the machine heats the water up anyway.
but depending on what program you are using some of which are hot fill only then if there is no water going in the machine it will show error 2.
turn your water of to the machine disconnect the hot and cold feed pipes, put the end of the hoses into a bucket then turn them on individually slowly to ensure there is water coming through them dont assume just because taps are turned on that water is coming through.
dont mix the pipes up if you take them off one at a time.watch in case the water is very hot dont scald yourself and better take the plug out just in case.

Its taken me a while, but I have now tested the water pipes. I have also cleared some items from the exit hose but that was as an aside.
The water is running freely from the inlet pipes. Can I take out the pump and check it or should I have a look at a filter somewhere?

Is this fault only on hot washes – ie, if you select rinse and spin, will it operate?

Spin works, rinse doesn’t.

it could be a pump fault.

i had just thought maybe if the pump is faulty (usually from water dripping onto it from the hose going from soap dispenser to pump filter) it wont fill.
assuming when poster says spinning but not rinsing meant that it would spin if empty but not emptying.
like when you ask a customer did it empty and they say yes, you fill it up with water put it to spin and it doesnt empty.
customer says thats right it didnt empty we dropped the drain hose out the back door?????June 23, 2007 at 9:11 pm #210519gareth_alexander

If I set the machine to program 29, which is a spin cycle, the cycle completes without a problem. If I set it to program 28, a rinse cycle, then I get error number 2 again.

Gareth, take off the lower kick board and remove the filter (towel down). Set it to spin – you should see the pump impellor whizzing round.

If the pump impellor looks like a green cross, then it stays stationary for the entire cycle.
Does that mean that the pump has gone?

ParticipantRe: Hoover Six 1300 Sportswear AL130 – Error Number 2
yes the impellor (green cross thing) should turn all through the spin cycle.
it will need a new pump but if the pump is badly rusted you will need to check for a leak in the hose going from the bottom of the soap dispenser to the pump filter, in extreme cases pumps being badly leaked on can damage the main pcb.June 23, 2007 at 11:10 pm #210523gareth_alexander

Thanks for all your help, the hose seems fine so I might be lucky but I will double check for rusting when I take out the pump.

Hi again,
I just replaced the pump, the impellor rotates now, however I still get error number 2 after a couple of minutes.
Any more ideas?

ParticipantHow easy is it to replace the pump yourself please?
Thanks
