if you have just changed a rear tub /brng assy & you’re getting a tapping noise under load at high spin ,check the flat metal washers under the top weight, these should be a snug fit , slack & they will rattle like an old brit motorbike 😆
My Velocette LE is much quieter than any rattly Hoover six 😉 Welcome to the forum, FZR. I went to one of these this afternoon with one of the front weight screws snapped off. I think the customer thought I would just fetch a new screw from the van and screw it in. Not that easy, I explained, tub out job and a new tub front required as well as the screw. I tightened the 2 remaining screws as tight as I dared and the customer will let me know if she wants the job done properly 🙄
hi Phildom ,you can bet an old Velo will leak oil as much as that tub weight will fall off 😆 i’ve had 3 in the last month that have thrown the front weight off snappin all 3 bolts,pretty grim 😈 👿 ,take care dude…
i have had several similar faults on various hvr autos, some caused by coin or coins jammed in pump causing excesive vibration on spin , some pumps with the long tube type housing easily get 1p coins etc stuck in , and can be missed if not checked carefully.
allso the bolts go right into the rear tub requiring complete tub replacement, i usually recommend scrapping the machine in this instance
