KeymasterHi Forum, just found you via Google
I’ve tried to do a search for my ‘Hoover TCE61 Reverse Action Condense Tumble Dryer’ and its problem but can’t seem to find it on the forum.
The problem is (probably a common one) the Filter light stays constantly on and the machine won’t heat up.
I’ve removed the top cover, and to my surprise, there isn’t a lot in there. So finding the faulty part shouldn’t be too difficult !?! 😉
Can any body describe to me the faulty part (pic. would be nice) if these parts are ‘not user serviceable’ what do you think a repair should cost?
Thanx in advance

Can be a awkward job depends on the length of the wiring loom best to call a engineer try Repairs@ but if you have a go yourself power off first

Following up a bit here:
I’ve had the machine checked. The heater is defect and a sensor in the air channel too.
They gave me a quote for EUR 220 that’s about 150 pounds (I’m living in Germany) the dryer is four years old and cost EUR 400 that’s 275 pounds new. I don’t know what to do. It seems quite a high repair cost to me. Do you think its a reasonable quote?
Looks as though I’ll have to get a new one 🙁
Thanx

That seems like a ridiculously high price for a heating element replacement, the part should be between £25 to £45 at the most depending on the model. Have you had a breakdown of the cost of parts/labour involved, it is only a 15/20 minute job for a trained engineer. Are labour charges that much higher in Germany than the UK? It would be cheaper to bring it over here and let one of us fix it. 🙂

Thanx iadom for your thoughts.
I like the idea but it’ll look a bit odd strapped on the back of my Motorbike 🙂
I’ll have to look around, it cost me Euro 30 – 20.50 pounds to get the thing looked at, so the next one’ll want about the same, won’t he. I’ve seen from, litlor’s post that I can order the part via the website here. I’ll have to give them a call. Does anybody out there have an idea what the part number could be for the sensor I mentioned before?
Thanx – Have a good week

Whilst it is possible for two separate components to fail at the same time I would personally want to check the continuity of both the heater and its inbuilt protector as well as any other stats to make sure where the fault lies.

In other words, if I simply replace the defect parts, the thing will more than likely ‘blow’ again. !?! as the cause has not really been found.

You should really do an insulation and continuity test before trying any appliance that has been repaired. A visual examination of the parts you are replacing may also reveal the fault. If the mains fuse or the circuit breaker did not fail in the first instance then replacing the faulty parts should cure the fault.
If you do not have recourse proper test equipment then it is really down to you as to wether or not you change any parts without testing them. We can only surmise about the fault ( a very educated and the result of years of experience kind of assumption ) but a guess all the same.
Common causes of stat failure are due to not cleaning the filters and also switching the dryer off before it has completed the 10 minute ‘cool down’ period at the end of the cycle.

Im 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure the problem is only the heater pack obviously I would check this with my meter at time of the call, but as iadom says we can only surmise about the fault
Good luck

So it looks as though, with only a volt meter to my disposal, that I’ll end up buying a new dryer. I don’t think it’ll be another one with Her Majesty’s crest upon it though 😉
(The sponge seal around the condenser was a real joke, dripped quite a lot 😳 – good thing our cellar’s tiled and not carpeted! )Thanx again for your input guys.
