Problem – when ‘start’ button is pushed the drum starts to roll but there is a loud buzzing coming from the vicinity of the timer. When I release the ‘start’ button the drum stops rolling and the buzzing stops. Sometimes holding the start button in for some seconds causes the buzzing to stop and the drum to rotate without further button holding.
To me it sounds like a relay or connector problem.
Inspection under the lid shows a small relay panel adjacent to the timer. Is this where my problem could lie? I have made sure that all the connectors to the timer and relay panel are secure (with the power switched off of course) but the problem persists. I cannot determine whether the sound is coming from this relay panel or the adjacent timer as they are very close together.
When the drier kicks in everything works as it should until such time as its finished its cycle or the door opened.
Any help in confirming which is the defective component would be appreciatedNovember 8, 2006 at 3:07 pm #194702Martin

I ordered the replacement card through UKwhitegoods and was pleased by the fast delivery. Got the relay card fitted yesterday…. what a pig of a job though! The card was secured by 2 self tapping screws which could only be accessed by taking off the whole front of the machine. What should have been a half hour job at most, took several hours to complete. But hey, its working fine now. Many thanks to the guys who responded to my initial query. 😀
