HOOVER Tumble Dryer VHC 691B cuts out , lights flash

Good Morning , just wondered if anyone could help . I was asked to look at a friends dryer. Fault is that it stops after around 5- 10 mins. It does not have a digital display , just 6 red leds which all flash together evenly after shut down. It will start again if its turned off and back on. Tank is empty, filters clean , etc.
I have limited knowledge of electronics ( Retired Car Mechanic) , so i would appreciate from your experience the MOST LIKELY thing that is wrong with this model. So, if its a thermostat issue , we will risk buying items one by one in the hope it works . I know its not the best approach but its preferred in this case

has the flashing got a sequence to it

ie 6 flashes then a short break and repeat

Hello Dave – Thank you for the response , im fairly sure it doesn’t have a sequence , it just seemed all 6 led’s flashed at about 1 second intervals . If you were to stand next to it , i think you could just keep turning it off and back on and it would eventually dry everything .

are you sure the condenser clear, use a torch to make sure its well clear

Hello Dave ,
Yes , the condenser is clear , i took a hose pipe to it and blasted it out . Also washed the filter and emptied the water tank which is under the condenser , but it made no difference . None of these were blocked / full , as the machine appears to have been well looked after
