    HI,

Well, here i am again, the thermal fuse on my tv630 has blown again. The dryer is about 5 years old and this is the 3rd time its gone. I’m fed up paying £30-£40 for replacement heaters when the fuse is only about 50p.

ok, so i have a background in electronics so i intend to replace the fuse with one of these parts I have found on Farnells web site….

    http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/ … 138647&N=0

physically, its almost a direct replacement for the microtemp device fitted as standard.

I have read conflicting advice re the opening temperature of the thermal fuse. Some posts put it at 152c whilst the microtemp unit itself is maked 206c.

    Which is correct 152 or 206 ?

As I understand it the fuse will ‘blow’ at the indicated temperature, is this correct ? secondly, the replacement part from farnell, which is rated at 15a and ‘blows’ at 190c should be as near as damn it, a suitable replacement. ?

    Thanks for the help
    Shaun

Don’t know the rating off the top of my head, but it is usually printed on the fuse – you’ll need a magnifying glass though.

Would make more sense to work out why it keeps failing……? Manic overloading, opening the door with the heater on, crushed vent hose, blocked wall vent, loose fan, lack of ventilation can all cause this.

    Thanks for that Penguin…

Actually we do most of thoes things…. 😳 ..and the hose is crushed 😳 😳

The existing fuse is marked ‘tf 206c’ so i guess it blows at 206c ?

I think the 190c replacement fuse will work fine, should blow a little earlier than the 206c one but rather that than fit one with a larger rating. whats your view ?

    (naturally, replace the hose first)

    Cheers
    Shaun

206c it is then. Like for like if you can, otherwise go lower, never higher…..

I can verify that this works! I was going to have to buy a complete heater element for my hoover dryer costing £49.99 + pp but after reading this I bought a fuse for 98p and hey presto! it all works fine

Yes, I’ve used the same fuse before – the rating is a 206C however I’ve always replaced with a 192C part.
As penguin said, find the concern first before replacing again….unless you have a trigger happy Wife who likes to beat the timer and open the door mid cycle?

    😀

I know this is an old thread but it still seems to be the one that Google throws up on the subject. After much searching it turns out the part is readily available from Conrad at…

    Hi all
    Thanks to this user!!
I was searching everywhere for this part with no luck.
Looked like it was going to be a complete heater unit.
The item from conrads looks the same part for the TV30 (i know there are a couple of models).
    Thanks Again
    Adam
