The Filter Care Indicator light comes on after about 1 – 2 minutes of the cycle starting. This should mean that the filter needs cleaning or the hose is blocked but I have cleaned the filter till I’m blue in the face and I have made sure the hose is clear. The resulting effect is clothes are as wet at the end of the cycle as they are at the start! Any ideas what might cause this and how to fix it?

    Steve,
This is often a “no heat” fault. There is a thermal safety fuse as part of the heater assembly which will fail in an overheat situation. Unfortunately, it is a single shot device.

The correct home repair is to replace the heater assembly – Dave_Conway should be able to advise a price for you in the morning.

If you are unable to perform the diagnosis or have any doubts about your own abilities, get professional help. Check the Directories section for a local UKW engineer or, pop your postcode upn and someone will pick up it.

Whatever you do, Pull The Plug First.

    Regards,

The heater assembly is £35 inc VAT plus £3.50 postage.

You can get one from the shop here:

I have the same problem, now is the fuse assembley the small cylinder soldered item inside the heater unit?

if it is i should get an open circuit across it.

    Thanks
    Tony

It is indeed, and should show a reading of just about 0 ohms.

If not, replacement is the only practical option. Oh yes, tell the Mrs not to open the door halfway through “To see how they’re doing”. This is an almost surefire way of tripping the fuse!

    Re: Hoover TV630 Tumble Dryer

    impressive response

i have just checked this, then shorted it out for a brief test of the machine.

    works fine.

being a tight bugger, is it possible to obtain the correct thermal fuse (or the ratings)?

    Thanks
    Tony

It’s a microtemp – I think you can source them through Radio Spares (RS Components). The temperature rating is usually printed on it somewhere (microscopically of course!).
