ParticipantHi all,
Was having a look at a friends VHC 180..apparently it just kept tripping out the rcd so he showed me and I took it back to my shed to dissect..I found that there was a 3 Amp fuse fitted so changed it out for a 13 and lo and behold she starts running for me..
THEN… the door switch seems to not work (Door can be opened during cycle) so I stripped machine down but Door switch elctrically and mechanically fine…
Then i notice the on/off switch wont turn off…Dont think its a latching switch on it.. Breaks connects electrically ok though…
Then i notice scorching on the top of the timer where a little white wire comes from the back of the timer.. Now the timer functions perfectly…etc and will shut off when the machine is running…
So I told my pal that it was working but that the door was capable of being opened during flight etc and he says grand , its only for my own use I can live with it etc..
So i clean it out and fix some seals that came off etc and bring it around..Plug it in and click goes the rcd…
SO i bring it straight away back home and plug it in and she works fine (Albeit with the door/on/off switch problems)Can anyone help me with this? Ever come across this before..Very very bizarre, and I did try the machine in different sockets in his house..
Any help GREATLY appreciated please!!

I guess you have no rcd at your house. The machine has an earth fault that needs checking out with a megger. Heater, motor, mains filter etc.

Latest update!
After pulling my hair out for quite a while I noticed the Filter Suppressor was wired in reverse..Live’s into neutral and vice versa and in/out reversed also…
Changed them around and hey presto…. On/off switch working, door switch fully operational…..
Juat to chime in with a result

Hi
Drier doors do not lock when in use, only washing machine doors lock.
