ModeratorCustomer just been on phone, says that there is no water going into the upper container.
Thankfully not many of these things round here, apart from the pump itself are there any known problem areas for this fault.

Just had a look at the exploded diagram, is it possible to access the pump from the back?

No access from the back I’m afraid. Complete strip down. Bottom exit dryers are bad enough, these top exit are far worse. I would have thought if the pump had failed the dryer would have stopped by now, empty water light on?
If the light isn’t on I would get them to give the condenser etc a thorough clean & try again. You don’t want to be taking this apart unnecessarily …February 20, 2014 at 9:13 am #410021iadom

Thanks Tim, the bloke is a retired engineer, he had had a quick look and came to the conclusion it was one of the worst pieces of engineering he had ever seen.

I had to think what he would think of the newer zanussi washing machines with the lift up drum paddle to access the sump/filter cage. What is that all about? Sorry off topic!!

Apart from the fact that the old English Electric Liberators from the 60’s had a small plate in the inner drum that could be removed to access the sump, nothing new under the sun eh. 😀

Cor blimey yes, takes ya back dunnit? But that was to enable the heater to be replaced. (The days when service access was a major priority) 😀
