    Hi,

I have a Hoover VHW964D machine which is making a very loud noise when on a spin cycle. It is a knocking/rattling noise. It only happens when the machine gets up to full spin.

From reading information on this site it seems it might be a bearing? If so, how can I find out if this machine has a sealed drum or if the bearings are accessible to change/repair? I have tried all sorts of searches online but cannot find any information.

Any help would be appreciated, don’t want to call an engineer out if a repair will not be possible and it will need an entire drum.

    Thanks

Hi there. You need to remove the lid. The plastic tub with the concrete weights attached is made of two parts. Either bolted together around the outside or welded by a machine. Bearings will be a costly repair get a quote before commiting. Bryan

Does the drum feel smooth when turned by hand? Could also be that something has detached from the tank. Usually the drier unit. B

    Thanks Bryan,

The drum seems fine when turned by hand and also when turning on a wash cycle, it is only when it starts to spin that the noise starts.

I will take the lid off and have a look at the concrete weight.

    Many thanks

Check concrete weight at bottom also. Tip the machine back and you’ll see. I wouldn’t use it till you find the issue. More damage will almost certainly occur. B
