ParticipantHoover Vision VHD 814 problem. Won’t complete wash, long pauses between any action. Timer delay then flashes 8 times and repeats 8 times until I turn it off. Would be very grateful if you know what this error code means.
Thanks, SteveDecember 22, 2010 at 8:41 pm #339512helo_75

Oh dear, that username is fine by me but our friend helo_75 ( trotters fan ) may take exception to helping a Man U supporter. 😆
The tacho coil may have come adrift from the end of the motor. Remove the mains plug, lean it back against a wall or the units and shine a torch onto the end of the motor. The tacho coil is the round disc with two thin wires going to it in the centre of the motor, they do sometimes come adrift.
Or you may find it easier to just remove the motor from the machine to check the tacho coil, quite easy on these TBH.

oh well somebody has to support them eh. is the tacho coil the one that is next to the brushes, if so then mine is solid.

As you can tell mate repairing my washer is entirely a new task, just trying to save a few quid as work is a bit quiet, and trust it to break down when the 2 year extra cover i had as not long ended. Anyway everything attached to the motor seems solid. where is the magnet? I’ve had a torch all round and inside the end of the motor i can’t see anything that has come adrift. Your knowledge would be appreciated. Oh and no offence against the trotters. 😉

Participantthe magnet screws on to the rear of the motor, inside the coil.. normally, if it had come off, then ud find it on the floor, its a small magnet, round, around the size of a 20p peice
its not impossible the brushes have gone, but it does say in the manual its a tacho fault, be that o/c or the magnets broken/cracked or dropped off
good luck

Thanks guys for your replies. I have taken off the motor and examined it there is no loose parts and nothing missing from the motor, so does this mean its the carbon brushes at fault
