Hello All. I have a customer with this model need some ideas on a fix as part is now obsolete.
Has anybody come across this problem before.
The location tabs on the Drier casing that hold the heater element in place are worn and let the element move about causing an anoying rattle.
The Machine has been looked after and is still in good condition customer wants a repair if possible
So I would appreciate any ideas on how to repairThanks in advance

The casing i am talking about is the cast air duct on the top of the machine
Is there any way i can secure the element to stop it rattling aboutApril 6, 2006 at 9:44 pm #172332leavemetogetonwithit

In similar situations I have wrapped some thick wire round things to stop rattles. Of course the wire will rust but it’ll be a long time.

Thanks Mike I have been giving it some thought overnite and am thinking of fitting a spring on the bottom of the Element then when the casing is closed it should keep it tight only worry is will it get to hot and heat the spring to much. Or would it be do any harm to the element if i just wrapped wire round a part of it to secure it.
If anyone else has any ideas i would like to hear them.Rob.

Presumably the element was originally touching the casing where it was held and this did not cause excessive heat transfer to the casing. IMO, since wire is round it will not have a large contact surface with the element and there won’t be a problem. I’m sure you won’t need to use much wire, just a bit where the original clip would have been to keep the element in position midway(?) between the upper and lower casings.

Can’t you make up a metal bracket to fit over the securing bolt to act as a rigid plate where the housing has corroded?
