Model WDYN9646G-00 The machine is wearing out just one of the motor (C E Set type) brushes, is there a design fault with this type of motor. I have had to change the same worn brush twice, the other brush is still 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of original size. The machine is in normal domestic usage and not subjected to abnormal loads.

The commutator wears as well as the brushes don’t forget so that may need cleaning up with a bedding stick. The uneven wear is as a result of one brush acting as the ‘leading’ brush, the other being the ‘trailing’ brush when spinning. Also check the worn brush for burned ends on the metal holder. If so that’s an indication of overheating, often a result on non-stop wash loads (i.e. soon as one load has finished another starts)

    Thanks for your reply
I cleaned the commutator on both occasions (have maintained hundreds of motors in my time) – it just seems odd wearing out one brush. There was no sign of burning – maybe suggest waiting between washes.
