Dryer heater not working. Don’t think it’s the element as I did get it to heat at one point by jiggling the spring switches which I think are the thermostat control switches which are fitted to the top of the element casing. However the heater casing then got very hot, overheating I suspect. Next day I tried this again to get the element to heat up, but this is not now helping. Could this be a thermostat control which needs to be replaced? The dryer has rarely been used, if this could be related to the problem. What are the likely causes of the heater not working. The fan operates, and the drum circulates when the dryer is activated, just no heat.
