KeymasterMy 6 month old machine is now on its 4th front panel as the transfers around the knobs showing the settings on it keep rubbing off. Has anyone else had this problem, as Hoover say we have just been unlucky with a bad batch of panels. It seems to be when it is drying, the front panel gets hot & the transfers become sticky.

are you cleaning it with anything? Just a damp cloth is recommended, no cleaning agents. Dont know of a problem with these but as its so new they may have a dodgy batch as suggested. Another 4 panels before your warranty is up and maybe they will get the message and improve them.

Crickey! Sounds more like melt-down if the panel gets hot??????
I guess the model number has also ‘melted off’ as I do not recall a HWL 3137 being sold in the UK?

Sorry my fault model no is HNWF3137. We have not cleaned it with anything as the panels have not been on long enough to get dirty!!! They are trying 1 last panel & then `taking it from there`…whatever that is supposed to mean. Thanks anyway

Well surprise surprise it happened again..so I insisited that GIAS changed the machine..which they did to a Hoover HNWF 6137!!! Within 2 weeks guess what!! So off went another letter to Gias, and I have received a full refund directly from them, as they say they cannot rectify the problem. I now have to replace the machine ..any recommendations for a washer dryer 7kg washer/ 5kg dryer??

Common fault come across loads of times
Learnt my lesson 2 years ago repaired a Hoover tumble dryer after testing cleaned my dirty hand prints off the control panel and also wiped the decals off cost me a new control panel went back 1 year later to repair her washing machine and she complained that her tumble dryer decals have come off again saying she only cleans it with a damp cloth?December 1, 2005 at 9:18 am #132738snowman

Hi
Same problem Hoover wash/dryer , mine is about 3 years old , the (blue) print is softened by the slightest contact with washing liquid.
It’s not difficult to spec screen printing etch ink that will withstand common washing liquids , why on earth do Hoover apparantly still have this problem ? Incidentally the black print on the detergent dispenser is ok !December 1, 2005 at 11:13 am #132739Ultrazapp

This fault is well known by Gias engineers it started with the Softwave range it is caused by a fault in the clear varnish that is used to seal the print. You will find that if you push the writing with your thumb it will smudge if this is the case it does not matter how careful you are the writing will come of. 😆 😆
