    Gents
Can anyone help me with a problem I have on this machine. The water doesn’t appear to be reaching the required temperature when selecting 40 or 60 degrees C. I can confirm that the hot water fill hoses are clean and so is the detergent drawer and hot water is making it to the drum along with the cold fill but on anything other than 90 degrees it seems to take on too much cold water. Are the sensors on the water inlet valves some kind of thermistor? They have roughly the same reading of 4 ohms and I wondered if someone would be good enough to advise where to look next. Thanks and regards David

    plug out before doing anything.

the things on the water valves are solenoids not sensors.
i would have imagined if the machine was not heating up it would not go through the program.

however i get many calls where people are under the impression that their machines are not heating properly.
depending what program you use the machine only heats up at 1 part of the program, because of low water levels and sometimes double glazed doors then the door glass does not always get hot.

even if the machine fills up completely with cold water the machine will still heat it up to required temperature.

if i get this type of call i usually ask what makes you think its not heating,
and i get various answers usually involving the temperature of the clothes coming out of the machine ie. they are very cold so they could never have been warm usually in the winter.perhaps someone will tell you how to check if it is heating but i would be more likely to ask you my usual question.

i would also say that on 90 degrees it fills only with hot water on other programs it fills both hot and cold

    Hi

Have you actually checked the temperature of the water with a thermometer during the wash part of cycle , or are you just touching door glass. Also on 40/60 deg washes if total amount of water is 4 gallons of this 3 gals will be cold water and 1gal of hot. Because cold water is usually at mains pressure and hot is gravity fed from hot water tank.
A lot of new machines are now cold fill only,
And do not forget that machine will do 3 or 4 rinses with cold water at the end before spinning

Re: Hoover WB120 001 hot water temp

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I take the point regarding different water temps at various stages of the cycle and have taken temperature readings of the water at each fill stage.
At no time does the temperature get anywhere near 40 degrees at any stage of the cycle. The hot fill seems to be going in OK but its totally swamped by the amount of cold water going in.
You are right of course the cold mains pressure is far in excess of the gravity fed hot water but I would have thought the machine would be able to reduce or stop the cold fill in order to achieve the desired temp.
Could it be that the cold inlet solenoid has failed and is not shutting off? There are three, two for the cold and one for the hot. As I’ve stated before they all seem to be around the same value resistance wise so I’m supposing they are all ok.
Is there anything else I could check before calling an engineer in?
    Best regards

the machine heats the water up regardless of how much cold water goes in.
if you call out an engineer the first thing i am sure he will ask you is what makes you think it is not heating?
however if you are really desperate to find out if it is heating disconnect the drain hose from the plumbing not the washing machine, tie the end of the drain hose to a tap so that the end is in the sink put it onto a 40 wash no buttons pressed, then the first time it empties, only the first time, the water should be hot.
40 degrees should be too hot to comfortably put your hand in, i take no responsibility if you scald yourself i am just trying to help.
