ParticipantHello , can anyone help us.
We have the above which is at least 10 yrs old. We use it upto 5 times a day as we have a guest house here in Blackpool. We do colours on No. 4 and whites on No.2 cycles. No other cycle is used.
Recently, to the end of No.4 cycle, on the final spin it is causing the electric in most of the house to trip. Can anyone answer the following:
What is the heaviest load allowed?
Is there such a thing as ‘overheating’ when it is constantly being used during our busiet month?
It is fine when it is being used as a dryer.
How much for hoover to come out and will parts be free? Thanks Mark

KeymasterIt’s liable to be an electrical fault Mark, at the age and with the use I’d suggest you bin it in all honesty as it will cost more than it’s worth to have it repaired. For the use you’re giving it though, if you want reliability, then forget the cheap brands as they’ll only give you trouble in all likliehood especially when under loads like that. I’m actually surprised that you’re Hoover has lasted that long without fault.
Parts on Hoover are free up until 5 years old, but the caveat is that they cannot be in what they class as “commercial use”, to most manufacturers being in premises like yours would fall under that catagory and the warranty may not be offered. When you get a replacement check this thoroughly and don’t trust the salesmen in any of the big chains as I have had first hand experience of them misinforming customers on this very issue on several occasions.
Hope that helps.

Totally agree with Kwatt on this one.
Recently attended 2 heavy duty domestic machines, one in a nursing home the other in a guest house, and warranty was void despite customers being told by large retail electrical store that it was a commercial machine. (There were large labels stating “Domestic” on the appliances).
Best bet is to ask the store to give you a proper written guarantee for commercial use when you buy it. Watch how many sales people suddenly change their mind about it.DP

Ok thanks for that advice.
We have decided to invest in a new hoover HNWF 3137 which has a 7.5kg max load which we hope will do the business fo us for many years to come.
Thanks again Mark -
