    Hi
pretty new to the site, but not new to domestics, however left the trade many years ago, in fact when the Hoover 3236H was popular, yonks ago echos the words of the older hands. Anyway, forced to keep my hand in by ‘er in doors.
Before I descend upon our latest Hoover WDM 1300, and yes! I know, I should have known better, it has just displayed some unusal symptons, similar to a pump problem of water remaining in the drum (with the bounce of death), however, the problem appears that when the water has been pumped from the drum, the slow speed for water extraction is being seen as a faster spin, obviously causing drum unbalance, my intial thought is faulty triac motor control, unless you know better.
I appreciate any offerings of advice you may offer, in return I offer advice of repairing your local ATM machine, its the same thing, it launders!!!!

If the triac were at fault with the description you have given, the motor would kick into spin whenever activated, so rule that one out. You need to start with the basics (you remember……) – check the filter (under the kickboard) and the sink coupling for blockages. The modern pumps can become intermittant due to the nature of the pump motor, so that may need checking as well.

In return for this free advice, I will expect the access codes for ATMs in the LS19 area by PM soonest…… 😀

    HTH,
    Regards,

Re: Hoover WDM1300 Low Spin routine

Thanks for the feedback Penguin45, I’ve aleady carried out the basics, the odd 20p coin, pen top etc. I think the problem may be with the brushes, likely that the slow spin cycle is not reaching correct speed, feedback from tacho then increases power to the motor, hence the sudden increase up to a fast spin. Looked at the brushes, and they are down, have ordered a set of genuine replacements. Like you said ‘down to basics’!
    Thanks

P.s If I knew the ATM codes myself, highly unlikely I’d be crouching down on a floor fixing a Hoover!!!! If I do stumble across them, I’ll send you a copy when I’m safely in Brazil.
