    Hello,
I have a Hoover WDYN855D washer dryer that is less than two years old. I have had to have an engineer come out three times over this period for various faults. However, over the weekend the machine just stopped working. There is power to it and recognizes the programmes chosen, the water fills slightly, but the drum won’t turn and it doesn’t wash. As this is happening the time goes down on the display just as it would if it were working.
I had to remove the clothes from the machine so i could hand wash them and first tried to empty the water by using the drain function, although it stated it had completed and I did hear water going down the waste pipe, there was still water in the drum when it finished.
The night before the last time it worked properly, after a dry cycle the clothes came out crispy. – Not sure if this is relevant –

Also, the last time it worked there was a strange noise that came from inside the machine, sort of like a faint tinkly / metallic sound.

I have read as much as I possibly can and have noted for the most part people have suggested the carbon brushes or motor are to blame?

I have a terrible policy with d&g and should have received a new machine by now, which they are reneging on and I can’t wait until next week for an engineer as I have a big family and can’t do everything by hand.

Please could anyone help? I would be extremely grateful.
    Thank you

Yep, motor needs checking out. Don’t mess with it though but consult D & G otherwise your extended warranty will be void!

Thank you for the response. I’m only asking as I expect that when the engineer comes out (Friday) they will have to order parts, which will mean waiting even longer which I absolutely don’t want to do.
I’ve had a very bad series of experiences with their engineers and /i am more than ready to just cancel my plan and do it myself. If it is the motor, could anyone tell me which one I would need to purchase? Thank you.

“If it is the motor…..?”That is the question you need to check out first. That involves getting hands on now and checking first of all. I have to assume you are knowledgable in the field of electro/mechanics and have the tools to hand? Good….. So, what is the state of the motor like? Please report back and if you need a motor do give me the full model, serial number AND the product number of your machine as there’s at least 2 different motors to choose from. 😀
