ParticipantHi, my washer/dryer stopped – showed no signs of life at all. I figured it was the control module and/or display module. Both have been replaced and the washing machine shows signs of life – when I turn the dial, some lights on the new display module light up.
However, it doesn’t respond correctly. For instance, when I select a programme, I don’t see the dryer options (unless I select a dryer programme) whereas normally I could set a drying option for after a wash cycle. If I press ‘Start’, then the ‘Sensitive Care’ light comes on (in error) but the door doesn’t lock. No washing occurs.
Do I need to do something to the new control module to tell it that its in a WDYNS-654D-80? What else could it be, given that the two items were replaced and the part numbers do match. I was sold a programmed module, but I’m beginning to wonder what it was programmed with!
Any help or pointers?
Cheers,

Hi
IF it is a pre programmed board then it is plug and play BUT if it is an un programmed board then it will need to be programmed.
If you wish to have it programmed then we can carry this out for you

Hmm. Do you recognise the symptoms? What would an unprogrammed board do?
I’d gladly take you up on your services but alas the board, and washing machine are currently in Grenada which makes service calls and/or shipping considerably harder!

Another datapoint – if I hold the bottom left two buttons (stain blaster and sensitive care) and turn the unit from off to on with two clicks clockwise, I get all the lights lit up.
That suggests to me that the board is programmed with something – but not for my model perhaps *sigh*

Just an update on this. Thanks to much help from Bryan, r600a, we managed to get the board I have out here programmed with the correct code. Bryan also helped me with some test procedures.
The main fault was indeed the control module and display board. The secondary fault which caused most grief was a damaged ribbon cable, with one wire bust. This resulted in the buttons not working correctly. Re-wiring this has resulted in a working machine again.
So many thanks to Bryan!
