Hoover Quattro WS130 – wont begin spin program because water still in bottom of drum.

Ok, I’ve read all the usual suggestions and I’ve checked the following:

Filter behind front panel – clear and impeller turns with resistance at each quarter turn which I assume to be magnetic resistance.

Checked drain pump- removed all hoses and checked that they were clear. Removed pump and and its cover and nothing blocking it. Impeller turns freely.

Pump coil gets hot so I’m assuming power to it or is this a symptom of a dead pump? (checked across terminals with meter and reads zero ohms)

If I run the spin cycle with the outlet hose in a flat tray so all water drains out it works fine.

Can anyone offer any more suggestions?

    Thanks.

First of all I hope you did all your investigation with 13amp plug out and any further inspection of parts also.

Have you checked the sump to pump hose and the pump housing where the sump hose connects, I have found many a 1p acting as a butterfly valve in here?.

Two pumps on this one – front one is the recirculation pum, for spouting water out of the door seal. Rear pump is the drain pump.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Yes, I isolated it. I’m a qualified electrical engineer so well aware how you can get bitten 🙂

I think I might have cracked it.

From the recirc pump at the front, there’s a hose that goes upwards towards the drum. This used to be held to the side of the machine with a clip on a self adhesive sticky pad. The sticky had come away and the hose was very badly kinked.

Would this stop it emptying, because the machine thought there was a blockage?

I untwisted it and stuck it back and it seems to have done a complete wash and spin now but it was intermittent so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

No, it would stop it squirting water into the drum from the side of the door seal. There is a hose going front to back to the drain pump which can get rather blocked.

Re: Hoover WS130 fails to drain

Well I ran two complete washes through and it appears to be ok after un-kinking the pipe.

Funilly enough it’s now squirting water through the seal – something I don’t ever remember it doing before. 🙂

Can’t try any more because I’m away until next weekend but I’ll report back if it plays up again.
