ParticipantThe WS 130 is about 6 years old and has been used everyday since new. To date the motor has a new set of brushes and six months ago a new tacho control was fitted. Last week there was a strong smell of electrical burning and I found the fuse to be blown in plug of washer/dryer, the machine failed in the spinning cycle. When I replaced plug the motor was dead but by turning the front dial all other function were ok.
Ive have since fitted another motor but it doesnt work either, Is it likely to be the motor start capacitor or the control module at fault and would they have been damaged as a result of motor failure. Are there any voltage or resistance tests that I could do to pinpoint the problem?

No capacitor I’m afraid. It’s more likely the motor failure took the timer/pcb unit with it 🙁
You may be able to see obvious signs of damage if you check (with the power off of course :zap:)

Thanks for your reply Dave I have checked visibly and can see no obvios signs of failure to board. I supose the usual thing is replace the whole board but would the cost of this and age and usage of this machine render this cost prohibitive, perhaps the purchase of new machine would be a better idea with a 5year parts guarantee.
Any idea what the cost would be for a new board for this model? Thanks in advance for your reply. 🙁March 11, 2006 at 11:19 am #169074Dave_Conway

ParticipantI agree with you Dave – probably 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time – if the motor armature fails (flashes) it will take the delicate circuitry of the timer/module assy I speak as an ex engineer Hoover Candy 15yrs.
