Does it drain manually or not?
Water level is detected by pressure switch. If it drains manually, check pressure chamber for blockages. If it doesn’t drain manually, check sump and drain hose for blockages.

Thank you I really appreciate your help, yes it does drain but the pump does not seem to stop it just keeps pumping even though the drum is empty. I will check the pipe work and tubes leading to the pressure switch. Can I bypass the pressure switch to check if it is this that has faulted? Thanks again.

Great advice from all!! I cannot explain the whys or the how’s but tonight I have disconnected the heating element as per helo_75 and the washer has completed two full washes (must have been a good cover our profits memo from Hoover) I will fit a new element as soon as and post the outcome here for other users.
