A blockage in the black rubber hose from the bottom of the fill matrix to the main sump, a sort of ‘S’ shaped hose can cause this. Also valve failure is not uncommon on these older machines. Part number of valve if required is 180770. An e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get you prices and availability.

Thanks checked that, all clear, so/s the other pipes
managed to dismantle the water valve,
seems there is an internal ceramic looking filter just before the bend to the main rubber bellows, it looks a bit black, so i may chip it out to see the what difference it makes to the water flow, Loath to buy another valve as cannot see anything wrong………I have a Main stop cock that is only open less than 1/4 way, to reduce the splashback, when washing out cups in the sink, it reduces the embarrasment when visitors call, observing water down the front of the trousers te hee
P.s. do not understand your “not Uncommon” is this negative negative logic ?? 😕

Not uncommon? What’s the problem with that? Not even negative as that is a true positive statement to which I fully support. 😉
Likely as not the water inlet valve is duff* and dismantling it will surely make the situation worse I’m afraid. 🙁
* That’s negative by the way, I’m positive on that! 😀
