Hello I have a Hotpoint 7Kg Ultima Digit Washing Machine -either a WT746 or a WT741 (I say this as it has a max spin speed of 1400rpm). It is 5 yrs old but in good condition. Clean, no leaksor blockages. I put on a wash and it went halfway through then the following “F- 08” came up. I think it is a fault code but do not know what. Then the machine went off and tripped the main panel.

I swapped the fuse from my kettle into the machine. The panel went on but when it started it tripped again. I put the fuse back into the kettle and the kettle works. I Then put the original fuse back into the machine it tried to start then tripped.

I also have a panel that says washing machine on the wall with a fuse in it but never thought to check that. Is this a fault with the machine and not fuses? Do you think it will be expensive I can ill afford it at the moment?

If you want some idea of the problems you may have then search this forum for ‘Indesit 8 flashes’
It’s supposed to be a heater relay fault but in fact can be just about anything from faulty heater, pressure switch, wiring or the main pcb.

Safe to say that I will not even attend a machine with the 8 flash/ F08 fault. I have found myself out of pocket more times than not attempting to cure this fault.

First thing to do is to remove the mains plug and check the heater for insulation faults.
