Hotpoint 8496A Fridge freezer

Good Morning

I have a Hotpoint 8496A frost free fridge freezer (This is my own one this time)
The fridge is getting warm but the freezer appears to be ok.
I don’t do refrigeration so not sure what this will be
Its an old one I have had for at least 20 years i think.

Should I buy a new one or could it be a simple repair ?

with the old units gas goes into freezer first then carries on to fridge. only when the freezer is cold enough is there any left over for the fridge
you will prob find the freezer is warmer than it should be and also it will be running constantly

if so it will be either low gas or compessor problem

Toni, this is an early mistral plus if I’m right. That fault is normally caused by lack of airflow from freezer to fridge. First see if the freezer fan is working by opening fridge door & operating light switch by hand- fan will only run when fridge door closed. If it doesn’t (and assuming the switch operates the light correctly) then most likely to be the evaporator sensor faulty. If it does run then probably just ice build up in freezer- empty the lot & switch off for 48 hrs. Wiz
