Hotpoint 8912 american style fridge freezer

This one has solid frost (snow)down the back wall of freezer. No water supply (assume frozen). Customer has defrosted before but fault has returned. Fridge not cold. Is there a common fault with defrost function on these similar to the mistrals?

Ps have looked at Washer first and both fridges at same address within three days. Im sure customer thinks i have sabotaged his refrigeration appliances! He has a dishwasher as well…..

It’s made by GE this one for Hotpoint.

The defrost system is much the same as for standard frost free units, probably best to start there, it’s all behing the freezer back wall (most of it anyway).

Hi have a look at the defrost cut out, it sits on top of the evap. had a mix of those and defrost timer stickin (behind stat in fridge)

If it is the defrost timer will a universal one fit? 20 mins every 8 hrs.
