    Hi,

I haven’t used my Hotpoint 9306 tumble dryer for years. Just dragged it out of the attic to use it, and the drum won’t spin.
I can see it has power, and it hums.
I’ve read the advice about trying to spin the drum by hand to see if it kicks in, indicating capacitor fault. Unfortunately the drum won’t spin even by hand.
I can’t see any transit bolts that would prevent it spinning, but I can’t remember if it ever even had any, and I don’t have the instructions.
I’ve opened the machine up and can see that the belt looks to be intact.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Hi Dave,
Thank you for the reply. I had a go but unfortunately I couldn’t get it to turn.
The link has a bit of footage where you can see what it’s doing.

    Thanks for your reply.
I ended up talking the belt off and the motor was fine as you thought.
So I took the machine apart some more and found that the back of the drum had rusted on to the dampening material between the drum and the case. After I freed that the machine is working fine now.
    Thanks for your help
